The Wyoming Valley Children’s Association (WVCA) recently celebrated their 100th anniversary, and to commemorate, hosted a Centennial Blue and Gold Gala. The event included a cocktail hour, a silent auction featuring over one hundred items, dinner, and an awards ceremony. Sponsors, guests, and committee members gathered for a night of reminiscing about the organization’s outstanding history and discussion on the bright future that lies ahead. The silent auction was held online where participants were able to place bids on baskets, gift cards, jewelry, and Sundance Vacations’ contribution—an 8 day/7 night stay to Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Before the event, the Wyoming Valley Children’s Association’s Director of Development and Community Outreach joined the team at PA Live to share WVCA’s mission and plans.

In the past, Sundance Vacations has supported and sponsored various Wyoming Valley Children’s Association events, such as the Do it for the Kids” Walk-a-Thon and annual fundraisers. WVCA is also joining Parenting Autism United for a community day to bring attention to Autism Awareness Month, where there will be a silent art auction and plenty of vendors.

About the Wyoming Valley Children’s Association

As stated on the WVCA website, the idea for WVCA began in 1923 when members of the Rotary Club of Wilkes-Barre and Community Chest, now the United Way of Wyoming Valley, expressed a desire to help handicapped children. Today, The Wilkes-Barre Rotary Club, and other local Rotary Clubs, continue to hold fundraisers, special events for the children, and personally donate to help sustain WVCA.
