Tamaqua Employees Donate to ACS

Sundance Vacations Tamaqua office employees helped the American Cancer Society (ACS) at a local fundraising event on March 26, 2017.

Held at the Lakeside Ballroom in Barnesville, PA, doors opened at 11:30 a.m. and the auction was held at 2:30 p.m.

The auction supported Carbon and Schuylkill County while still benefiting the East Region of the American Cancer Society.

Prizes included electronics such as a GoPro, iPad or a Fitbit, as well as some local gift cards and baskets.

The Sundance Vacations Tamaqua office participated in the auction, raffling off a week-long vacation giveaway.

Our 8 night/7 day vacation was valued at $1,500 and was won by local Fran Gilbert.

Gilbert told one of the Sundance Vacations employees who attended the event that she is unsure where she will go yet, but is excited to look through our excess inventory list to pick her destination.

Bonnie Whah, our Sundance Vacations Tamaqua office Marketing Manager, tells us that it meant a lot to her employees to help the American Cancer Society and that a few employees even attended the event.

“Cancer impacted everyone here. Whether it’s been a personal struggle or touched friends or family,” Whah said. “We’re glad [our vacation giveaway] brought in a lot of tickets and a big crowd, which means it raised a lot of money and went towards a wonderful cause.”

Mary Ann Dulaney, an ACS volunteer for the Eastern Central Division or Carbon and Tamaqua unit, tells Whah that she’s thankful we’ve been able to support the auction the past two years.

“We are extremely grateful for any donation,” Dulaney said. “Thank you again for you generosity.”

The money raised from the auction will be presented in April at a two-day televised ACS Telethon live from Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA.

The Tamaqua office employees tell us that they encouraged Gilbert to share pictures from her winning trip and are looking forward to seeing how she spends her vacation.
