Sundance Vacations Wilkes-Barre’s IT Department Held its Second Annual Barbeque

The Sundance Vacations Information Technology (IT) department at the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania office had its second annual barbeque to raise funds for the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen this past Monday, August 21.

From 11:30 AM until 3:00 PM Wilkes-Barre employees were encouraged to join the IT department behind the corporate building for refreshments, food and games supplied by the IT department. The department served burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cookies, chips, homemade root beer, water, iced tea, and other homebrewed refreshment!

Each member of the department personally donated prizes for 50/50 raffles to help raise money as well. Mark donated a grilling basket, Shawn donated a homemade hot sauce basket, Justin donated a homemade wine basket, April haggled with HR for a dress down week, Scott provided 4 tickets to Dorney Park, and Justin & SuAnn collaborated on a Smart Home starter kit that included an echo dot, a smart LED color-changing bulb, and a home PC with monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, and speakers!

With the barbeque falling on the day of the eclipse, IT was also able to incorporate a Solar Eclipse theme to the barbeque with eclipse glasses for people to enjoy the view! Employees also enjoyed eclipse themed music while playing lawn games such as cornhole, and ladder ball which also had prizes people could win such as IT t-shirts and homemade wine!

Sundance Vacations IT BBQ

The Information Technology team started donating to St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen a couple years ago when they started their chili cook-off, and have been dedicated to help keep those in need nourished!

As last year, the team didn’t tell St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen about the fundraiser! When Mike Cianciotta from St. Vincent was invited to our Wilkes-Barre Office he was able to meet some of the IT department who held the fundraiser, and thank them. He explained how helpful donations and fundraisers are, especially during the summer months when it’s a slower time for donations.

A great time for a great cause was had by everyone at the Sundance Vacations Barbeque – 2 (Special Solar Eclipse Edition) in Wilkes Barre.
