When some think about Thanksgiving, they think about the plentiful food they will share with friends and family, then maybe watching some football or taking a nap. That’s not how it is for everyone though..
Many families struggle on a regular basis to have food on the table, let alone a holiday meal. To ensure that everyone has a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day, the Commission on Economic Opportunity’s (CEO) Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank created the Thanksgiving Project 38 years ago!
Every year they help more and more families have their Thanksgiving meal. Last year more than 9,500 families received assistance though the project.
