Volunteers at Riamede Farm Help Local Pantries and Shelters

Eight Sundance Vacations Parsippany office employees gathered on the morning of October 24 at Riamede Farm in Chester, New Jersey, to support America’s Grow-a-Row.

The group of individuals teamed up with three other local company’s volunteers to help harvest the farm’s fallen apples. After three hours of picking freshly dropped apples, the group had gathered 4,800 pounds of produce.

Luckily, these ripened apples won’t be going to waste, in fact, they’ll be going to a good cause.

The gleaned apples will be donated through America’s Grow-a-Row program to New Jersey food pantries and local shelters, providing 19,000 servings to the hungry.

You could say our Sundance Vacations team went hard-“core” for charity!

This is our New Jersey office’s first time supporting America’s Grow-a-Row.

Brittany Devine, a Sales Representative from our Sundance Vacations Parsippany office, got the idea to volunteer at the farm after a client shared information about where she worked and their partnership with the food program.

Devine gathered her fellow co-workers together to make a difference; she even made cookies as a thank you for her team’s selfless effort.

“We were able to glean so much produce for a lot of people in need.” Devine said, “I’m so glad that we had volunteers from our office come out on their day off.”

This isn’t the only benefit America’s Grow-a-Row does around the New Jersey area. Seasonal produce harvests include corn, potatoes and more.
