Sundance Vacations Wilkes-Barre’s IT Department Holds Barbeque
The Sundance Vacations Information Technology (IT) department at our Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania office put together a barbeque to raise funds for the St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen this past Wednesday, July 13.
Sundance Vacations employees were encouraged to come out back behind the corporate building to tents and tables and enjoy a lunch on the IT department. The seven Information Technology employees teamed up to serve burgers, hot dogs, potato salad, snacks and even dessert for the entire office. Four IT department employees even made their own homemade beverages and served freshly squeezed lemonade and steeped iced tea.
In addition to food and drinks, there was a 50-50 raffle and a game employees could play to help gather donations. All the IT department asked for their barbequed foods was that employees donated what they deemed appropriate for the lunch to help St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen feed the homeless around Luzerne County, Pa.
Sundance Vacations employee Rochell Zambotti was our big winner of the 50-50 raffle and runners up Sue Saville and Erica Hontz went home with two IT T-shirts. Lizette Barrager was the closet to guess how many bottle caps were in a glass bottle and also won an IT department T-shirt.
After their 3-1/2 hour event, the IT department tallied $350.25 in donations to give to St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen!
“Our goal was to inspire help for the hungry by providing a meal,” Sundance Vacations IT department tells us. “We’re thankful for everyone who came out and we hope that we spread good cheer and full bellies to all.”
The employees tell Sundance Vacations this was a wonderful team building exercise for them and that they were glad that a fun event could also be a supportive benefit for a local charity.
The real surprise will come when employees drop off the donation, for no one told St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen we were organizing a fundraising event for them!
“I’m sure they’ll be grateful to receive this surprise donation,” said Suann Ritter, the Chief Technology Officer of Sundance Vacations. “A few less people will go hungry this summer thanks to our generous employees.”
