In 1950, if a child had cystic fibrosis the chance of them living long enough to make it to elementary school was slim. Since then, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made huge bounds in understanding and treating cystic fibrosis (CF). Many people with the disease can now expect to live into 40 and beyond.
With an estimated 30,000 Americans dealing with CF, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has been assisting in the fight against the disease since its start in 1955.
CF primarily effects the lungs and digestive system. With about 1,000 new cases diagnosed each year, the foundation is committed to finding a cure for this rapidly growing problem.
Donations to the foundation are used towards lifesaving research and providing access to specialized care and treatments. Nearly every drug that is currently used for the treatment of CF patients was made possible through the support of the foundation.
