On Saturday, March 23rd, a basket raffle and bake sale was held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jim Thorpe to benefit Bruce Green. After a CT scan discovered a large mass on his left lung, Bruce was admitted to St. Luke’s Bethlehem, where he was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a type of cancer. Baked goods, food, drinks, and different raffles were presented to raise funds to support Bruce and his family with upcoming chemotherapy and radiation expenses.

Katelynn Ahn, Bruce Green’s niece and a Sundance Vacations employee, said, “The fundraiser for my uncle was very successful. We had over 150 donations of amazing prizes to raffle off to help with his fight. I’m very happy to say after another hospital stay from the chemo complications, it has shrunk the tumor on his lung about 65% and we are now waiting to hear when his surgery is scheduled to remove the rest of the mass. I’d like to thank everyone who played a part in his courageous battle, and we still openly welcome all the prayers, positive vibes and well wishes. Thank you to my Sundance family!”

Sundance Vacations donated an 8-day/7-night vacation certificate to the winner’s choice of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The winner was drawn after the basket raffles.

As the American Cancer Society states. “About 2 out of 10 skin cancers are squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs, also called squamous cell skin cancers, cutaneous squamous cell cancers, or just squamous cell cancers). Squamous cell cancers are much more likely than basal cell cancers to grow into deeper layers of skin and spread to other parts of the body.”

As he recovers from this arduous hardship, positive thoughts and prayers are continuously sent to Bruce and his whole family.
