Making Wishes Come True for Children This Holiday

Little “angels” around the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania area will receive stockings full of cheer this holiday season all thanks to Sundance Vacations and The Salvation Army.

Every year around Christmas, the Salvation Army seeks volunteers to purchase holiday presents for families who are struggling to meet the financial demands of day-to-day life.

Each needy child is printed an angel tag with their first name, gender, age, clothing sizes and toys that they want for Christmas.

The Salvation Army offer angel tags to help make a child’s holiday joyful.

Sundance Vacations was eager to help and collected tags to offer to employees!

The employees chose their little angel to support and dashed through the stores to put gifts under each child’s tree.

Sundance Vacations provided gifts for 50 children, collecting hundreds of new clothing items and toys for those in need around the surrounding area.

Kelly Valovich, Sundance Vacations Charity Coordinator, started helping The Salvation Army with the Angel Tree Program eight years ago.

“I just wanted to ensure children in our community have something to unwrap Christmas morning,” Valovich said. “Every child deserves to experience the magic of Christmas.”

Ted and Sharon Tressler, Commanding Officers for The Salvation Army of Wilkes-Barre, came to collect the donations at the Sundance Vacations corporate office on Tuesday, December 8.

Mr. Tressler was shocked to learn that the bags he first saw when they walked in were not all of the presents, and was astounded to discover more in the next room.

Mr. and Mrs. Tressler tell Sundance Vacations that they are overwhelmingly grateful for all our donations.

“Without help from the community, we can’t help our community,” Mr. Tressler said. “It’s thanks to the generosity of local companies like Sundance Vacations that we can help serve those around us.”

Sundance Vacations is proud to support The Salvation Army of Wilkes-Barre and plans to continue supporting their Angel Tree Program for many years to come.
